About the Artist
Welcome to my website. I hope you enjoy looking at my watercolors and reading about my life and my work. I’ve been working in various mediums since childhood but for the past 25 years, my passion has been watercolors.
I moved to Florida in 1991 from Rhode Island where I earned a B.A. Degree from the University of RI and a M.Ed Degree from RI College. I returned to my first love of painting in 1986 after retiring from teaching Pre-School Special Needs Children for 26 years. I studied painting with many artists and at the RI School of Design.
I have tried to develop a style of my own. However, I have been influenced by the work of both Mattise and Georgia O’Keefe, my favorite artists. Rather than attempting to play the part of a camera, painting in a completely realistic style, I try to capture a mood of feeling in my work, striving instead for a personal interpretation or impression of the subject. I am eclectic in my method of rendition, employing various techniques, all within the realm of watercolor.
